So her power is to make everyone wear dresses with a swish of her wand in which the Akuma is in.

Phenomenology (WOII Week 1)

The Meaning of Phenomenology

In this first week, I learned about what phenomenology means and how it applies to daily life as a design student. Generally, phenomenology is a study of an experience and the consciousness of being in the world, which seeks to understand how things are experienced from one person’s perspective without making any assumptions. The idea of phenomenology is describing a lived experience as it is and focusing on what people saw.

Class Activity

In today's class activity, we all got instructed to interpret an image that shows ‘shadows’ and ‘time’. What I learned from that activity is every image has its own meaning, and experiences that happened in real life in every image. For instance, my picture shows a shadow of me and my friends. There is a meaning behind those pictures that not only shows shadows, but also time where we took that picture before school starts and we’re separated. That’s what I felt about the meaning of those pictures.

Connections to Design Training

As an aspiring graphic designer, phenomenology is always an essential weapon as a part of my design process. For instance, when we are all given studio work, where we should pick one designer that is interesting for us. I chose Ed Fella as the designer’s work that I want to recreate. However, I like to give some touches of my style so that I combined his style and my style as one work. Since Ed Fella designs are mostly vintage, I want to make my poster design look modern, but still have a vintage hint.
