When I'm crate digging through junk at flea markets, sometimes you find something and think "woah!". "Why is this sitting out in the world unclaimed?" Like this tiny tiny tiny hand painted cabochon/cameo of a young girl in a pink dress with blue head band and scarf. She's really intrigued me. I wonder when it was painted. It's a real work of art. Or maybe hundreds of these were made and she's the equivalent of those fake photo-frame families you remove from a picture frame before putting your preferred family photo inside. I like to think she is real, you can see the tiny brush strokes. She may have been someone's daughter or sweetheart. As she's been so alone in the world for such a long time, I've paired her with a furry fox friend and included scraps of reclaimed sari silk as if torn from her dress. I also found a use for those rose transfer ceramic tubes that I bought at a charity shop in 2007! Yikes. My latest Ode to a Dressmaker pendant in an Art Deco style. Check out the typeface on the steel ruler, it’s so elegant! This assemblage of antique haberdashery artefacts include hand carved jet beads, mother of pearl carved beads, peace dove glass bead from the 1920’s/30’s, vintage folding ruler, unique thimble with interesting black patina and turquoise inlay and vintage pressed blue glass flowers. All on sterling silver wires with hand fabricated chain made by yours truly. It’s 30 inches long although it will adjust shorter by 3 inches or so. I can adjust it to be much shorter too if that’s your thing, just let me know. Just finished this celluloid cameo mounyed on a belcher chain soldered setting by someone and I have had for years,adding a smaller belchet chain as extension for adjustable length! Hopefully it looks like it was born this way! I will take better pictures later! This will go in my #etsy shop soon.
