In January news broke that Young Fathers will be bringing their apocalyptic pop to South Africa for a two-city tour hosted by SA beats platform Weheartbeat and Cape Town's Assembly Radio, in partnership with British Council Connect ZA and Okayafrica. The Scottish/Liberian/Nigerian trio are indeed coming at the end of the month,and they'll be joined by some of South Africa's favourite artists. First, on 27 February 2015 they'll hit King Kong in Johannesburg with Card on Spokes, Okmalumkoolkat, BIG FKN GUN, Mashayabhuqe KaMamba, A Million Things, Just Themba, and Symatics. Next on 28 February 2015 they'll head to Assembly in Cape Town with Card on Spokes, Zaki Ibrahim ft Mr Sakitumi, Fever Trails, Mashayabhuqe KaMamba, Jakobsnake, Desert_Head and Symatics... Young Fathers Live in SA

2014 winners of the Barclaycard Mercury Prize, Young Fathers are on their way to South Africa. In partnership with British Council Connect ZA and Okayafrica, South African beats platform Weheartbeat and Cape Town's Assembly Radio will be hosting a two-city tour for the Scotland alt-rap heavyweights in a never-before witnessed salutation to the boundless experiences and opportunities live music can create.

The result is a week of workshops, satellite events and live performances in association with Red Bull Studios and LiveMagSA, alongside some of South Africa's best in live music, including SAMA winner Card On Spokes, Digital Maskandi artist Mashayabhuqe kaMamba and brand new work from future-sound high-rollers Okmalumkoolkat, Zaki Ibrahim featuring Mr Sakitumi, BIG FKN GUN and A Million Things (Tiago Correia-Paulo of 340ml and Tumi & The Volume fame).

The Johannesburg show will take place at King Kong (Verwey Street, Troyeville) on Friday, 27 February 2015 and will be streamed live on Okayafrica.com while the Cape Town show will take place on Saturday, 28 February 2015 at The Assembly on Harrington Street and will be streamed live on Assembly Radio.

We’re excited to announce that Young Fathers are headed to South Africa in February for a two-city tour hosted by SA beats platform Weheartbeat and Cape Town’s Assembly Radio in partnership with the British Council Connect ZA and Okayafrica.

The programme

Scottish/Liberian/Nigerian trio Young Fathers are headed to South Africa in February 2015 for a two-city tour. The first time collaboration between the Johannesburg-based beat platform Weheartbeat and Cape Town-based online radio station Assembly Radio supports the ethos that music is a shared experience. The two partners share that collaboration is all about connecting people in an in-depth, never-done-before setting. Young Fathers will bring their apocalyptic pop to Johannesburg and Cape Town for a week of workshops, satellite events and live performances.
