Away from the masses and the constant hustle and bustle of an ever so teeming Melbourne CBD, you will find happiness and tranquility in a cup just up north in Carlton at Assembly.
The calm and laid-back duo of two, Ollie and Chrissy (exercised their rights of not having their photos taken) run the show with cool as iced mocha Kiri, manning the espresso machine next door.
With plenty of time on our hands, we decided to test-drive the highly praised Otto machine in their modern showroom slash shop. We simply had to see for ourselves, whether this compact espresso machine fitted with a steam wand, could possibly replace our hip percolator at home.
For some reason it took light-years until that puny state of the art espresso machine, would extract a single drop of black magic, let alone produce a nice and full body.
While the two of them were struggling with Otto, we bounced next door to Kiri before missing out on coffee entirely.
Coffee, latte art and taste were more than on par with Melbourne coffee standards,
yet we couldn’t quite wrap our head around the whole bean counting business. Isn’t it a bit tiring to weigh and bottle up the beans for every single shot? I for my part prefer to eyeball it, rather than getting too caught up in the science of it all or maybe that is just the way of it.
Again, my magic and Sonya’s cappuccino were perfectly extracted, rich in taste and came with crisp and instagram worthy latte art for us artists to goggle at.
So if you enjoy 2P parking like us or talking without busy background noise, then this little coffee spa resort might very well be just for you!
Do say Hi to Ollie, Chrissy and Kiri for us.
