It felt like her lungs were on fire, but she could still breathe. The Sierra Madre’s toxic air had made the disease worse, but it had become slightly more managable thanks to the Big MT’s cybernetics. While it had helped, it hadn’t cured anything. Cotton was still dying, just at a slower rate. After the Second Battle of Hoover Dam and Vegas had been declared as an independent power, she knew she was on her last weeks.
“Yes Man, how far are you on that medical download thingy?” The Followers couldn’t handle all the people that were swarming into Freeside needing medical assistance, so the Courier’s first order of business was to try and fix that. The Big Empty had plenty of secrets, and she had brought a lot of them home, including several medical research holotapes. She had hoped Yes Man could try and somehow reconfigure the data on the tapes and program into the nearly-infinite amount of securitrons they had, to maybe aid as nurses or something.
She didn’t know, she wasn’t exactly a technical genius, or any kind of genius, for that matter-- especially considering she had killed the only guy that said he could help her with the whole ‘dying from a horrible unknown disease’ thing. But all that was left of him was in the Lucky 38′s basement, and maybe a little smudge of him on that golf club she used to beat him with.
“Can you do anything with it?”
