You know, I was thinking today that I'm not even 100% sure my shrink "believes" I'm autistic. When we first discussed my self-diagnosis, she mentioned that I'm not what she associates, in her experience, with autism, but that of course there's a spectrum.
Ever since then, the only things she says about it are to mention that I obviously realized important things about myself, that I make much more sense to myself now, that I'm noticeably more relaxed. If she disagrees with me about my diagnosis, that doesn't MATTER to her. It matters to her that I'm functioning like a million times better. There's literally no reason ever to be an asshole and openly disagree with someone about their autism diagnosis, whether self- or otherwise. You have to actually go out of your way to do that assjackal shit on purpose. Because it doesn't MATTER whether you agree.
