VERSUS.   --- course he’d always known his gunner isn’t from around here, that all that blonde && sharp-eyed gets skittish in a very telling set of conversations, situations. && if versus were to be honest, then yeah - the where from he’d always known. been pretty sure of, at the least.

this bit, though. the thick thin thin thick thin of dark ink - that’s new. that’s...            ( wide eyes, pupils pinpricked, the harsh catch in a familiar voice ) ...disturbing, considering prom’s behaviour.

“ ...i’m not sure what this means. ”  quiet as the hush of fingers sliding around that wrist, gentle.  “ i can imagine nothing that would turn me away from you, though. test this - ”  careful still as stark contrast is raised to one’s lips  “ - if you doubt. ”

they are not empty words.      there’s a kingdom to protect, but it’s far from all that’s dear to his heart.

VERSUS.          “ … ”

slightly more accustomed to this than prompto might be, yet the sight of that ( incorrect as well as ) sassy little bow does… eh. hrm. ah. uhm.

          “ …gunner, what the fuck. ”

it’s cute. too cute. do it again.     shoulders rise on a sigh that is made to look Quite Done, which poorly veils a different kind of disappointment.flirty shit, makin’ a heart ache with practised ease. 

            a soft snort, hand’s deft turn && then a flick to that cute nose.      “ nerd. ”

VERSUS.   sigh’s long breath, its brush of warmth along another’s shoulder. there’s no reason to keep eyes from closing or himself from nuzzling gunner’s nape. some stray gold tickles his nose into a huff.

“ mm? what, ye’d actually speak? ”  notes come lazy, drawled, accented in a manner shown among... ah. the less uptight clique. ‘s not an entirely conscious call to let vowels lengthen, consonants smoothed as they knit into syllables to come - but versus doesn’t repress the urge ( shaped by a lifetime quite outside the palace && the range of its courtiers ).     “ i don’ think ye’d ever’ve said it. ” 

                 which would have been a real waste.

arms draped loose yet heavy round the other’s shoulders, palms curled about one’s own forearms held tight. could take a nap like this, no problem.

VERSUS.

             mid-sip, one’s faculties cease to function. water washes down his chin, cold, && though it drenches the front of his shirt, he’s too busy staring to notice. or maybe too shocked to react just yet.once some ability returns, fingers spring apart // glass thnks safely into the carpet // both palms are pressed over the glowing heat of one’s face. versus’ groan is one of those truly tormented.

     “ you can’t just - fuckin’ - do that, prom’, what the fuck - ”              amid splutters, the heels of both palms are dug into      his forehead --- nope. doesn’t help.

“ not without expecting me to rip your clothes off, what the fuck. ”         yeah, now it’s just whining.

step step close the distance. “ but that’d hurt, right..? can’t rip this off... ” tendergentle fingers to the pretty red of that bow ( the prettier way his freckles stand out ). “ ’s kinda nice though, maybe keep it on-       --- I AM AN ADULT && I DON’T HAVE SEX. ”

VERSUS. steady, eased by the burn of a few drinks savoured; conversation flows along points of interest && pools in one’s gut ( the bass whips through his veins, spurs on the alcohol ). been a while since negotiations came dressed in the right compromises - neither he nor gunner has had need for the steel strapped to their thighs.( every one of gunner’s shifts finds them touching. freckles curl about the edge of sofa’s seat, wrist a pointed brush along one’s thigh. )            within thirty minutes, details are hashed out && agreements             made; theirs a give && take not commonly agreeable. just            goes to show: F6′s rumblings were nothing but trouble for      all of them. 

the lady doesn’t stick around.

once she && hers are gone, it’s just the rhythm flowing up to fill their nook above the dance floor: a corner filled with couch, they slouched across arm rest, railing, observing the colourful mass below. the volume ensures a hoarse kind of privacy // music’s melody slinks in chilly with undertones cloying. cold to the chest && throbbing in his gut - still intoxicating.tucked together ‘neath the cover of flickering bright shadow, prompto’s touch shifts up - palm a warm spread of pressure until grip winds tight about thigh // one’s throat bobs && it is lost to the shadows // blue eyes’ gleam.

                         flushed, lips curl at their corners.                    “ let’s get out of here. ”
