end of summer festival ferris wheel ride
featuring: @alaraosman
Just get on the gosh darn ferris wheel ride, Cole. There it was, tall as it had been every year, lit up and bright under the North Carolina summer stars and all Cole could do was stand there, looking at it. She could remember the distant laughter of being on it with Luca, as they shared milkshakes and he tried to convince her that the wheel was going to break, purposely going back and forth on it. They would even laugh about the corny, terrible nature of the Notebook scene where Ryan Gosling hung on a ferris wheel to get a date with Rachel McAdams, but all of that was beside the point. Here she was now, solo to the festival for the first time, and no one to ride the big wheel with.
Swallowing hard, she felt herself move forward, handing a ticket to the attendant and sitting down. Anyone else want a ride? We got an open carriage. Miss? Cole looked to see who they had addressed and to her surprise, it was a woman looking alone as well. Cole shrugged, offering a small smile. “It’s an open spot. It, um - beats having to stand on line, I suppose. I promise I don’t bite.”
