yoshiki leaning on his hand that's holding the other half of hikaru while he thinks about hikaru being all excited to see fireworks that look like souls to him !!
guys.
chapter 6 // chapter 37
ALSO!! THEY'RE NOT DOOMED!!! they're literally so hope-pilled and if you read any of the interviews MMR did you would know that. but even without those, this is so clearly a story about queerness and acceptance. this is about "monsters" finding their place in the world. why tf would it end badly for them!! that would do absolutely nothing for the themes that have been built up all this time. did we watch the same finale episode or what!!
MMR said they wanted to write a story about a human and a non-human, specifically a story where the monster doesn't have to die or disappear at the end. and do you think they would kill off yoshiki at end of the story? the most blatantly gay character in the whole series?? accepting hikaru's death, accepting 'hikaru' as the monster he is, wanting to find a place where 'hikaru' can belong, and in doing so, being able to accept the "monster" that he sees himself as, all for nothing?? please consider the themes of the series and whether or not the ending you have in mind is conducive to those themes!! if yoshiki dies or if hikaru has to disappear, aren't you saying "queer people don't deserve to be happy, actually" ?? that no matter how you struggle to accept yourself, in the end, there's no place for you in the world? be so fr right now.
this parallel of yoshiki and hikaru calling for each other 😭
if you don't love me at my
then you don't deserve me at my
ID 1&2: A scene of 'Hikaru's dark insides attacking and engulfing Yoshiki.
ID 3&4: Two different instances of 'Hikaru' healing injuries caused by impurities, one being a rash and the other being someone's soul using his now shining insides. (End)
honestly you could look thru every instance in the anime and manga where yoshiki is freaking out/spiraling thinking about 'hikaru', and you won't find a single time where yoshiki thinks anything close to "i hate him". i don't think he ever even blamed 'hikaru' for being what he is. yeah, he was scared of him at first, even calling him a creep once, but even that was him putting on a front to try to distance himself from 'hikaru' bc that's what rie told him to do. but he never blamed 'hikaru' for taking hikaru's place or hated him for it. he even said at hikaru's grave "no one will mourn you since he's here. but i'm glad he's here cuz it means i won't forget you. forgetting is what scares me the most." yoshiki has good reason to be scared of 'hikaru', but even when he's terrified and thinks he's gonna die, he still doesn't think anything like "i hate him"
