he’d excused himself from the room when he was sure that lydia was safe and with her mom, when he was SURE that she wasn’t going to die on him, again. now he’s sitting outside on the pavement, just a few feet away from his jeep, taking in the fresh air. the last time the human had been out here alone, it had been when scott walked away from him━ when he’d LOST a friend. it almost felt like that now, except lydia came back to him. however, he thought he’d lost her.
he feels off as he looks down at the ground, feet dragging against it in an attempt to pull them to his chest. arms wrap securely around them and chin falls to rest against his knees. he’s tired, no EXHAUSTED━ doesn’t remember the last time he’s slept. fingers move quickly to wipe at his eye as a tear falls and all he can even think about is the fact that lydia had just died right in front of him. the familiar voice━ HIS voice plays over and over in his mind as a reminder of his begging for the strawberry blonde to wake up, to open her eyes.
things almost seem too quiet for a moment, or maybe it’s more than just the few moments that he’s alone, because silence falls around him. fingers move to wipe at the dried up blood just under his ear and it takes him a moment to realize the almost numbing pain that comes with pressing against it. as much as he wants to be alone in that moment, he finds himself pulling out his phone from his pocket and sending a quick text to his best friend.
( text: scott ) come outside.
