Have you seen the new All Creatures Great and Small tv show? It’s about a Yorkshire farm vet in the 1940s and it’s perfectly lovely.

I’ve heard good and bad things about it on veterinary Facebook groups. My mom used to watch the original All Creatures Great and Small and it was mostly about the cutesy old-timey English countryside vibe than about the veterinary medicine, which is/was fine for me. However, vets and vet staff in general don’t typically watch veterinary shows in our down time, unless we want to drink wine and make fun of Dr. Pol.

How do you suppose Hua Cheng felt the first time he met Xie Lian after the third ascension and realized he was taller than him? Like they both changed so much since the last time Hua Cheng saw him in person- Xie Lian is much more stable, humble and and at peace than he ever was before. I wonder if that was something Hua Cheng had to adjust to. I would love to know what you think!

I think Hua Cheng would have known for some time that he’s taller than Xie Lian. Hua Cheng knows every detail and dimension about Xie Lian, could probably picture him beside him vividly, and that includes their height difference.

It’s possible Wu Ming was taller than Xie Lian already, though I can’t recall if that was stated or not in the novel

So yeah, he knows, but I also think it’s something he has to adjust to and it’s one of the many reasons why he enjoys being San Lang, the mischievous young adult, in front of Xie Lian so much. They’re around the same height so he feels like he can get away with more

Hi! On the first episode of "The Bridge" podcast, they give a shoutout in the credits to The Bright Sessions and Wolf 359 for moral support and advice. I've gotta know- is there some kind of awesome club that all audio drama producers hang out at? Do all of you know each other?

I totally forgot that they did that! What sweethearts. That’s a fab show, for anyone who hasn’t listened. 

Alex Brown (the creator and writer of @thebridgepodcast) has been a long time listener and supporter of TBS - she started listening and reaching out on social media in the early days of the podcast. So when she said she was doing her own, I was so excited to listen and, spoiler alert, it’s really great. 

And that’s mostly how we’ve all gotten to know each other - by being fans of each others’ things and shouting about it on twitter and then nerding out together. I can’t say that I’m frequently in touch with Alex or with most audio drama creators, but I’m always listening to their shows and cheering for them on the sidelines. The audio drama community was welcoming and kind to me from day one, and their continued support means the world to me. They are honestly some of the greatest people ever. 

One of the craziest things that making this show has brought me is getting to meet my big time podcast heroes like the teams behind Night Vale and Black Tapes (+hopefully Limetown soon! We’re all going be at Austin Film Festival so I’m gonna stalk them hard). And when I think about the really close friends that I’ve made in the past few years, I met all of them through making or loving AD. I cannot imagine my life without those people.

So yeah, we do kind of all know each other. We hang out mostly on twitter, facebook, and slack (is the slack a secret, guys? I don’t think it is. Someone scold me if it is) and sometimes we even hang out in real life! It’s definitely a growing community, so I can’t claim to have interacted with everyone, but the more the merrier - if you’re thinking about making something, come join us!

This isn’t from the fanfic asks list but I would love to know the writing process behind your social media fics. The way you intercut the scenes with the snapshots of social media where some of it has direct correlation to the story and some is just fun is an absolute pleasure to read. Do you write out the story and then put in the social media bits, or is the process more linear? Do you make up the usernames or use real people?

I write the prose and social media bits together. If there’s a gap in the story that I don’t want to/can’t fill using prose, I think of a way I could address that event or thematic element using social media. 

Social media is a good sign-poster sometimes, too. It’s an easy way of telling the audience, “Hey, this is how much time has passed, this is where we are in the story!” Or, “Hey, this event is coming up soon!” without having to directly tell them in prose.

Other than that, my social media scenes are just fun headcanons or dumb jokes that wormed their way into my brain. They help to break up the fic if it starts to get too serious, too. Like a breather.

The usernames are either made up or come from people on tumblr. I usually create a post asking people permission to use their urls in my fics, and then draw usernames randomly from that.

Hey Jade! I just wanted to send a genuine thank you for your work. I go back to it on rainy days, and it's something that means a lot to me. Your style of putting various snippets together, pulling the narrative together from so many different places while still making something so cohesive and complete, is really special and engaging. Do you ever see yourself writing the moment that Izuku finds out he's become the number one hero? I would absolutely love to see your take on it. You're lovely!

That is something I’ve attempted to write more than once in the past, but it’s such a big and important moment that I found myself getting overwhelmed by it. Maybe one day in the future I’ll manage to capture that scene properly
