Iacta jumped slightly at the thump on the door. Someone was actually in there. She searched through her bag as she heard footsteps approaching, pulling out a carton of milk which smelled quite vile just before the door opened.
"Oh, sorry! I was just wondering… I was just wondering if I could borrow someone milk! We need it for…." She waved the carton around slightly, bringing it closer so they could smell it. What did you need milk for again? Cake? Cookies? Screw it, she’s going for cookies. "Cookies! Yeah, we need milk for cookies. This isn’t a dare that unexpectedly got complicated at all." Nailed it.
"...Milk." Simon said, frowning. "You seriously want us to believe you're here for milk. You know that this isn't exactly the easiest place to go for milk, right?" Simon paused to mutter something under their breath, rubbing at the crease of their brow with a clawed hand. "Okay, look. We're going to choose to believe you, because you know what? We are sick to death of strangers showing up on our doorstep for no discernible reason. We're going to pretend that you're here for milk, and you're going to continue to act like you are, because if we don't believe you have a genuine reason for being here we are going to seriously injure someone, and you're the only one who appears to be in the nearby vicinity," they said, quickly losing breath as they slipped into a rant.
"So please, by all means come inside. We wouldn't want to be an ungracious host," they hissed out, patience rapidly running thin. Maybe they just needed sleep. Simon huffed loudly in an attempt to rid themselves of some of the tension they'd begun to build up, dragging the hand that had been kneading their forehead down across their face to smoothen out their expression. "Okay," they said, calmer now. "Okay, hello. Milk, then, yes?"
