omg telltale heart. that’s the fic that got me into pedro in the first place. genuinely didn’t understand the hype around him at all and had never seen anything he’d been in except parts of the first season of the mandalorian (i was in grad school and couldn’t invest emotionally in anything so i stopped watching after episode 2). then i read that fic while looking through the writers masterlist for more oscar isaac characters but settled on it because i love some marriage in trouble trope and was like ok well. hot. and decided then to go see the unbearable weight of massive talent since it coincidentally was coming out that day so i walked to the east village, watched the movie, and was immediately obsessed with him and the angel energy in those giant, sad baby cow eyes of his.

@astroboots hi lovey! I'm so glad you like this part. It brought me a lot of joy to write, though also a bit of frustration--I spent a lot more time than I typically do fiddling with the wording to try to get it to flow nicely and say what I wanted to say. I also had to cut short the list of baby's nicknames because I could have gone on and on 😂 My own nickname for her--Mini--didn't make the cut. I have this slight aversion to giving OCs actual names so I'm always pleased when I can get away with mija or honey for her.

Usually I refer to our Mr. Morales as Frankie but I made a conscious choice in this 'verse to have Ghost call him Francisco. The ghost has to investigate and intuit a lot of things on her own and I imagined that her first introduction to him would have been looking over his shoulder as he signed some paperwork from the realtor, where he would be using his full legal name, and so that's what she would think of him as. I think there is a sort of distanced intimacy to it, this thing of learning someone by snooping through their mail and eavesdropping on their phone calls instead of being able to have a direct conversation. And I also think that Frankie is a multi-faceted character, particularly as he is growing into fatherhood, and that perhaps this quiet, homey side of him that Ghost gets to see is closer to the boy his mother named than the rowdy Catfish some of his friends know.
