IT’S WEIRD TO GROW UP IN A WORLD WHERE SHE ISN’T ALONE. weird to have siblings and two parents, to be overwhelmed by a slew of aunts and uncles. all things she never had growing up as the daughter of a revolution, with a father who had become far more machine than man. freedom isn’t a reality there --it was a dream. this place...these people...it’s the closest thing she’s known to the concept of being free.
but he’s right about one thing, nothing will clean the blood on her hands. and some of it, she’s not sure she wants clean.
