Rule: State 5 things you love about yourself
… and then tag others. Tagged by xxxxxxx.
1. Courage. I have the quiet kind of courage that means I do the right thing even when no one is looking. I won’t let anyone marginalize me because I’m a woman. I don’t back down from bullies. I hike alone in the back country of Alaska (bear country). I’ve gone to foreign countries where I don’t know a soul - alone - and I’m not afraid. I’m exhilarated. I love that about myself.
2. I choose people for friends that challenge me. The fact that I always chose friends who are smarter than me is because I like people who are intellectually stimulating and who look at the world differently than I do. It is a good counterbalance to my own substantial ego - to know that “I’m not all that.”
3. Kindness. I try to remember that I have a lot and therefore owe a lot to this world and people less fortunate. I strive to find ways to help others that are more than just giving money away. Sometimes the most important gift you can give someone is your time and attention.
4. Kids and animals love me. I think it’s because they can sense that I mean them no harm. Adults and people more spoiled by societal conventions find me less attractive, but kids and dogs have no societal expectations and they like what they like. I’d like to believe it’s honesty in my soul that they respond to. I am who I am, good or bad, sometimes good & bad.
5. Silence. I can be alone and be fine with it. In fact, often I prefer it. I am comfortable with silence and never long for idle chatter or meaningless noise. I think that makes me happier and more pleasant to be around when I do chose to interact because I don’t feel compelled to talk all the time. I wish for the capacity for stillness - this I continue to work on.
I’m tagging xipiti, isagrimorie and asurferdreams and bluebirds47 because their answers intrigue me.
