Asus ROG Sica Mouse Review
Good news for all game junkies! More and more products have expanded considerably for the gaming audience. Asus plan to create an entire PC ecosystem under its gaming sub-brand has seen it release desktops, headsets, laptops, mice, monitors, SSDs and sound cards in addition to the graphics cards and motherboards that have been with the mainstays of the ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand since its inception. Moreover, here’s my Asus ROG Sica Review:
Asus Sica mouse is one of two gaming mice currently offered by the Republic of Gamers brand. The Sica is the entry-level mouse making use of a compact ambidextrous design with a 5,000DPI optical sensor.
Asus ROG Sica Specifications
Sensor Optical (Pixart PMW3310) DPI 5,000 Interface USB 2.0 Cable Length 2m Buttons 3 Switches Omron Mouse Feet Teflon Polling Rate 125 ~ 1,000Hz Dimensions 115mm (L) x 62mm (W) x 39mm (H) Weight 117g (not adjustable, with cable)
A mouse with a price of PHP1800 is not too convincing with gamers who are already used to common benefits of gamer mice. Furthermore, Asus claims the thumb buttons simply don’t make sense given the ambidextrous design and that the benefits of the Sica are in the finer details. The body of the Sica mouse is relatively unique in that the left and click buttons are separate from the main chassis of the mouse. This creates a shorter actuation length for the mouse buttons as well as increased tactile feedback. Asus claims these two aspects give the gamer better control of the mouse and a more reliable clicking action.
The software has a clean layout and all the functions work as the user would expect after a recent software update was issued to fix some functionality problems. One of the more tedious elements of the software is having to manually drag the updated profile onto the mouse each time changes are made. However, this is designed to make sure the user doesn’t erase their current profile without intending to do so. The user can save as many profiles to the software as desired, although there is no easy way to change these profiles on-the-fly, and the same can be said for the DPI settings.
The ROG Sica is a lightweight and nimble gaming mouse that tracks with precision and brings all the benefits of a high-quality optical sensor into play. The Sica is well-suited to RTS titles like Company of Heroes and MOBA titles like League of Legends where much of the gameplay input is done through a keyboard and the mouse is primarily used to select units and navigate around the in-game map.
The Asus ROG Sica is a minimalist gaming mouse that will appeal to a MOBA and RTS gaming audience where simplicity of design, excellent tactile feedback and a high-quality sensor are crucial requirements.
