a bunch of people have already said Let It Be Lightning which is the CORRECT answer always! so i wanna say (mistakes aren't always regrets) because your asw project produced an unimaginable number of little gems but i have truly never forgotten that one, its one of my FAVOURITE short fics i love it to death
AHhhHH (mistakes aren’t always regrets) , I really love that one! I always wanted to write an Inception AU but never had a big plot idea so that was a good opportunity! so it’s pretty vague what Niall’s role is, but he’s a combo of a chemist and a tech geek AND also a very skilled forger when he actually decides to do field work. this kinda takes place earlier in dreamshare when the technology was just making its way out of the military and into the underground. a huge part of fanon that I always loved was that forging is something that came so much later than the rest of it, people started forging specifically for cons and I feel like that’s how Niall would approach it, so this takes place before anyone really knows the specifics about forging in dreams, it’s Niall’s Secret that he keeps until Zouis are stumped and he’s like ‘so there’s this thing I’ve been working on...’ and VIOLA.
