"Reminisce with me, Kadan"
Send me "Reminisce" for a memory my Muse holds dear.
“Do you remember our first outing together as members of the same party? I can barely sympathize with myself back then, my opinions on everyone have changed so much. I used to think that you were out of your mind more than half of the time.
But perhaps not for the reasons you think. Sure, I had seen you rush into battle the same way a child runs into water at the beach, seen you laugh and roar in the same breath whilst covered in gore; however, those were all things I somewhat expected of you. You were-- are a reaver, after all. Bathing in blood is just what you do.
No, I thought you crazy because of the things you did out of battle. You stopped to smell the flowers and purposefully avoided stepping on snails or buds. You named yourself The Iron Bull, and yet your favourite metal was Dawnstone. You laughed off my jabs and insults at every turn.
The craziest thing I had yet to see you do, though, is share your tent with me. Not that you had much of a choice, and neither did I, but that was when you shared your bedroll with me. It was horribly cold and wet on the Storm Coast, the kind of cold that ate at your very bones. The supply tent had collapsed while we were exploring, and half of the bed rolls were soaked. I took one of the wet ones, and you had taken one of the dryer. I expected you not to share, to gloat in my face.
But that night you just shook your head at me like I was crazy for thinking of walking into the tent with my wet bed. “Leave it to dry with the others, mine’s plenty big enough for two,” you said. It was a stretch, at most. It was barely big enough for you, much less the both of us, and you would only insist when I tried to let you take it for yourself.
We were forced to bundle up close together, but I knew. I knew that you had let me hog the roll and the blanket. I knew that you kept your hands to yourself because I was uncomfortable with... someone like you. I knew that... that...
I thought you were crazy, absolutely out of your mind. You were just too kind not to be.”
