Game action snippet from Atari’s Battlezone - 1980.
Ghoul Panic! A classic arcade light-gun game similar to the Point Blank series.
This was a shooting gallery game with a Halloween theme. Ghoul Panic consisted of tons of mini shooting gallery challengers, including ones with ghosts, skeletons, and there was even end bosses in the game, such as a battle with Dracula who turns into bat half way through battle, Frankenstein, and a witch on a broomstick among many others.
The game was developed by 8ing/Raizing and published by Namco. Besides the game’s Halloween themed target shooting challenges, 8ing brought elements of Point Blank into the game play scenario as well, as often popping ghosts would release a plethora of fireworks, which is a notable feature of Point Blank.
The game first hit arcades back in 1999.
Rage!!! After playing Primal Rage 2, its easy to see this game was clearly one of Atari’s greatest accomplishments in arcade gaming. Sadly, the game never saw an official release, and the project was canned back in late 1995. Atari brought back the original prehistoric beast fighters from the original game, along with new humans known as “Avatars”, who transformed back into the beasts themselves.
