A/N: I'm obsessed with pirate AU's and have been wanting to write one for a while. Their performance on Kingdom gave me the final push to finally write this, well.. it's been in my drafts but I finally decided to upload it. The photo isn't mine, credits to the rightful owner! Also this is gonna be a series. This is only part one. xx
This is not how you expected your escape to go. You had everything meticulously planned out, from the time you'd escape down to which ship you'd board. One tiny thing you forgot about were pirates. You had almost reached the ship when you got backed into a corner and captured by pirates. They instantly recognized you as a princess and therefor thought you'd be valuable.
Yo let out a deep sigh as you stare at your surroundings, getting lost in your thoughts again until they’re interrupted by a loud scream. Unfortunately it doesn’t stay with just that one scream. Soon the entire crew seems to be screaming as you hear a lot of thuds. Oh god, not a mutiny please. You sink to the floor as you hear the screams of the crew, the clings of swords clashing and things falling into the ocean.
This isn’t gonna end well.
All you wanted to do was escape the arranged marriage that your parents set up for you and now you're gonna die on a pirate ship.
The sound of someone running down the stairs snaps you out of your thoughts. A young man about your age stares at you from where he’s standing, seemingly shocked to have found a prisoner.
“Captain! We’ve a captive!” The man shouts, quickly making his way towards you. Stopping in front of the bars as he grips them tightly.
“Hey, don’t worry we won’t hurt you.” He says, his voice soft and warm as he eyes you with worry.
Another person runs down the stairs and joins the man that was already standing in front of you. Is that the captain? He can’t be much older than the other one, if any. “What’s your name, beautiful?” The man asks.
The pet name makes you blush softly as you stare at the men in front of you. They’re undoubtedly beautiful but they’re still pirates and you don’t know if you can trust them. Especially after what had happened. “My name is Y/N.”
“Well Y/N, let’s get you out of here, shall we?” The captain speaks, holding the key in his hand as he twists the lock, opening the door and letting you out.
You gently get up from the floor and follow the men onto the deck. When you get up you feel sick to your stomach. The whole deck is filled with dead bodies of the crew that captured you. You feel fear start to rise in your body as realization hits you that these men must have killed them.
“Captain! Let’s leave!” Another man you haven’t seen before shouts, quickly making his way to the other ship. You feel your heart ramming against your chest as you gulp softly. Your hesitation doesn't go unnoticed by the captain, and he quickly takes your arm and drags you to their ship. Helping you over the railing as he puts you down gently.
Suddenly you feel a hand on the small of your back, making you flinch as you turn towards the owner of the hand. It’s the same young man that spotted you first. “Hey, don’t worry. We won’t keep you in a cell here. You can stay in my room if you’d like.” You’re surprised by the man’s kindness but you quickly shake your head.
“No it’s okay. You don’t have to.”
“Please, I insist.” He extends his hand to you and eyes you curiously.
“I forgot to introduce myself properly. My apologies. My name is Park Seonghwa. I’m the quartermaster of this ship. Nice to meet you Y/N.”
You take his hand and gently shake it, noticing how much smaller your hand is than his. “Nice to meet you, Seonghwa.”
The captain gathers the crew and properly introduces them to you. What surprises you is the ages of the men. They can’t be much older than you, which is surprising, especially for pirates.
You’ve learned that Yunho is the boatswain. He's a junior officer and in charge of anchoring the ship. Then there's the cook, Wooyoung who supposedly makes delicious food.
Then there's Yeosang. He's the sailing master and in charge of navigation. So actually it’s thanks to him that they rescued you.
You’re sitting on your now bed as your eyes scan the room. There aren’t too many belongings there but it stills feels homely. There’s a knock on your door and soon the captain of the ships walks in. A young man named Hongjoong.
“Listen, I know you must be incredibly scared but I promise you me and my men are good people. We won’t hurt you.” You nod at his words as you mumble a soft ‘thank you’.
“Wooyoung has dinner ready. Please join us.” He extends his hand for you to take, which you do as he leads you out of the room and to the kitchen where all the other men are sitting.
“Thank you for joining us.” Seonghwa says, offering you a seat next to him, which you take.
“No thank you, thank you for being so nice to me.”
“Of course we’re nice to you, you’ve been kidnapped.” San says, handing you a plate of food as everyone starts to dig in.
You feel a hand on your lower back again and turn to see Hongjoong smiling softly at you.
