He’s been staring for a while now. Knows he has been, but he doesn’t bother trying to hide it. There’s something about her that seemed so familiar, but unlike Steve, there’s no clear memory which comes to mind. It has been bothering the soldier since they entered the same room together, and he swears he hears the metal of his arm creak from how tightly his hand had formed a fist. After a moment, he wills himself to relax and his eyes to trail away, only vaguely listening to Steve’s words in the background.

  jamie doesn’t like sleep. she’s learned that humans are most vulnerable in their sleep. they fall prey to anything and everything around them. they get LOST in the depths of their own minds, & it TERRIFIES her. she’s been told that you reflect on the shadows of your thoughts at night ( & she doesn’t want to see the monsters she can imagine. )    so she doesn’t sleep. it’s easier that way. SURE, a little fatigue can go a long way, but if she gets tired, then so be it. a little exhaust was better than a restless night, that much jamie knows. BESIDES, she doesn’t mind the long nights; it was time to herself, time alone. sometimes she stays with steve, makes sure none of his monsters get him. tonight, she’s with nat.   jamie knows nat has her own set of monsters. she makes sure that those monsters can’t get her while she’s awake, but she was limited at night. but when nat wakes, jamie is there at her side. a solemn look resides on her face.                “ i know. mine are too.                  ...go back to sleep, nat.                    i’ll wake you when the                   sun comes up. “
