Bucky had been sat in the window, staring out at the cityscape outside, stretching away as far as the eye could see. He had been lost in his own thoughts, his mind dragging him back to his childhood, to the familiar voices and faces of his parents, the voices that would wake him in the morning and send him to sleep at night. The faces that held smiles, frowns, anger, and everything in between. Having Becca back meant the world to him, but that deep ache in his gut every time he thought as his parents had never left.
“Ma and Pa?” he added, realising she’d have no clue otherwise.
