i loved!!!!! the prologue holy SHIT it made me cry you guys. in part because that was just after i had written this bit:
"To talk." Leopardstar sits next to him, pulling herself in, like if she makes herself smaller, she will absolve herself of the guilt she carries. (And he knows she carries it. He was barely her deputy for a season, but he has known her his whole life. She will never say it — and because she never will, Mistyfoot will never forgive her — but he sees it in her shoulders.) but also because holy shit!!! that's!!! that's my leopardstar!!!!!! it her!!!! it her!! it is very sad!!! fuck!!!! fsdkl;fdskjladfsjk
skykit is...that is Bullying that is Targeted Harassment. i'm hoping that she gets to grow and have a good relationship with leopardfur, because while i can see where this characterization of skykit came in, i want the end result to make sense. given my general enjoyment of the preview, i feel reasonably safe in hoping for that.
and god. leopardkit. her relationships with all the adults of the clan. again, like! the preview was good but part of why i'm such a fan is because. it characterized leopardstar exactly the way i wanted it to. like. that's my leopardstar. proud but because she believes she is what is right for riverclan. and her treatment as a kit is just. like.
Leopardkit knows exactly the legacy she is born into. Her father is training to be a medicine cat — she can hear the rumors of her birth, the supposed kinless nature of his position — and Brightsky is dead before Leopardkit is alive. Shimmerpelt is a loving mother, and Leopardkit knows how much the Clan tries to hide their concerns from her. She never hears a bad word from them, no matter how much she practically begs for them. The most they will do is weakly chastise her, or send her running back to Shimmerpelt. She is loved, she thinks. This is what love is. Leopardkit loves RiverClan, exactly as she is taught to love.

i try really hard not to get excited for super editions because. it's easy to be let down and i don't have it in me for that. but it's Really hard not to be excited about this.
(even if the skykit slander is high treason.)
