But you’re right that similarly to monosexual, it equates oppressor and oppressed, and that’s not ok. I’m just ashamed I didn’t think of it myself. So thank you for that!

And I would like to say that your arguments on that post are some of the most comprehensive and informative I’ve seen so far. When people made the argument that it was ok to call bisexual relationships between a man/woman “straight”, even when people were taking issue with it, I struggled to come up with a decent argument against it, even though it rubbed me the wrong way.
And looking back I would never consider those relationships straight relationships, they were compulsory and in a way damaging. I hope that makes sense?
I was lucky enough to escape compulsory heterosexuality pretty early but I would still not ever consider the relationships I had with boys to be “straight”, because I wasn’t straight. And even if to the outside world we looked straight, and thus I suppose had certain protections and privileges, I was still struggling with my identity, and so those relationship were strange and uncomfortable and complicated, because I wasn’t supposed to be in them.
It was just to contribute to the LG/monosexual commentary you made on that post because I saw you’re looking for more LG input! While badassbonerfarts is entitled to her feelings about her past relationships with men she doesn't speak for everyone and it is absolutely fair to think there are some gay people who would agree with you that their past relationships with people not of the same gender were not straight, because I’m one of them.

Rule One: Always post the rules. Rule Two: Answer the questions asked by your tagger and ask eleven more. Rule Three: Tag eleven people and link them to this post. Rule Four: Actually tell them you tagged them.
1: What was the last book you read and what did you think of it?
I recently read Emma Thompson's screenplay for 'Sense & Sensibility' and was absolutely dumbstruck by her beautiful writing style and ability to portray deep relationships in such a simple manner.
2: What was the last tv show you binge watched?
24: Live Another Day. Initially I was just watching it for the brilliance of Michelle Fairley, but I actually got really hooked on the whole format.
3: What was the pairing for the last fic you read?
Cat x Ned. I've had terrible Stark feels recently (ie forever).
4: Got any piercings? Do you want any (more)?
I only have my ears pierced, but I'm quite satisfied with that (boring, I know.)
5: What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on?
Almost two years ago now, I travelled to Japan. It was incredible! I stayed with a local lady, visited temples, and even rode the underground system alone (even though I was slightly terrified)!
6: Favourite drink? (Don’t pick water)
My favourite drink actually is water! But, as I have been instructed not to pick it, I shall endeavour to comply. As well as water, I also really love tea and coffee.
7: What would your patronus be?
Probably a hummingbird; I'm a very curious person and I like to keep moving (in a challenge-yourself sort of way).
8: Got any skills/talents? (even unusual ones)
Well, I am a training actress, so that might count as a talent (though I see it as more of a skill). Also, I'm learning to play the accordion!
9: What do you have hanging/stuck up on your wall?
My wonderful friends gave me a beautiful GoT poster for my birthday, which has pride of place at the moment.
10: Preferred footwear?
Well, heels make me look taller (which is extremely useful) and I wear them quite often, but I prefer brogues.
11: Top 5 things to do where you live
1) Theatre (of course that would be my top choice!)
2) There are some really beautiful museums and galleries in the South West (UK)
3) Beaches, although I am personally not a fan
4) I like to visit the little fishing villages around Cornwall because they are so very pretty, though they often present challenges in terms of actually getting to them!
5) Local heritage stuff! The South West has such a rich heritage that is really interesting (I even worked in a cafe that used to be an engine house).
Thank you very much! I would like to tag:
ctsquirrel, athena-mcgonagall, thegardners-williamandalicia, batwings79, essiedoo, landoflesbians, sunberger, arihcucurumbe, mrsdalia, burgundyorange and don-tbother.
My questions are:
What was the last thing you ate?
The last thing to make you laugh?
The last thing that you found really touching?
Are you a binge-watcher or do you prefer to draw out the television experience?
Can you do any accents other than your native one?
What was your dream career as a child?
If Ben & Jerry's made you some sort of mystical flavour advisor, what flavour would you commission immediately?
If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be?
If you had the ability to see into the future, would you use it? If so, for what purpose?
Do you own any unusual travel souvenirs?
Where is your happy place?
Happy answering, my lovelies!
