The other day @dongtopus sent me this post which we agreed was an incredibly Marion sentiment, and the thought has not stopped bouncing around in my head since.
(If you're not familiar with the characters of Marion and Athil, please check out his Legacy of Kain inspired story here)

There were more guards in the market square today. It didn’t escape Marion’s notice that their attention was mostly taken by the Kholean workmen. Not one of them seemed to be able to leave the damaged wall to retrieve tools or fresh stone without finding themselves on the same route as a patrol.
The city guards weren’t exactly threatening, but it would take very little for that to change.
“You’ve noticed them too, then?” Athil said from beside him.
Marion nodded distractedly.
“Can you have a word with them? About discretion if nothing else? It’s not good for business when people see more swords than fellow shoppers.”
Marion sighed. “I have tried, believe me. To be frank, I don’t think I can mansplain manipulate manslaughter my way out of this one.”
Athil nudged him and nodded towards Adir who was making his customary purchases of olive oil and fresh sheep gut. “Manwhore it is, then.”
“My dear, please. That’s not me.”
“Malewife?” she suggested.
Marion’s thoughtful gaze passed across the guards and lingered for a few seconds on Captain Avendal. “Hm, yes. I could do that.”
