Do you know what Avatar: The Last Airbender is?

I thought about a norse mythology atla au this morning and I can't stop thinking about it... asgard is the fire nation and jotunheim is probably the earth kingdom because apparently bumi (thrym?) can declare himself king randomly (maybe utgard is ba sing se?)... the vanir are the water tribe because njord... for some reason loki as a chaotic airbender makes sense... the valkyrie are the kyoshi warriors... I need help lmao
OH THIS HAS BIG BRAIN POTENTIAL. But it’s so,, difficult lmao
I mean. Kyoshi island is in the earth kingdom. But the valkyrie are affiliated with the Aesir and Vanir. Which would make them part of either the fire nation or the water tribe in this au?
Loki as a chaotic airbender does make sense... The jotnar could also be the air nomads?? Also the fact that the jotnar already have elemental correspondences but they’re less defined than atla makes this even more difficult,, Like Skadi definitely has northern water tribe vibes while Thrym = Earth king and Gerd for example also has earth kingdom vibes?? And Loki is just a mess like he has airbender vibes but the association with fire could make him Fire Nation???
Also elves in general kinda have air nomad vibes while dwarves have earthbender vibes ?? Yeah
If you could be a part of any nation in ATLA what nations would you be in, and why water?
Ok first of all do not read me like that lol
I actually guess that from all the things we saw in all the nations Water nation was more centered in the well being of all people!
confession: i run a multi thousand follower atla blog and i've never seen atla in my whole life
😭😭😭
what's up its alta anon back at it again to say: zukka rights
You always come back to give me my rights
how abuot the Gaang and how they break the 4th wall?
Alright so, I’m a sucker for these ‘protag from educational tv interacting with the toddlers watching’ bits and Aang is definitely some version of Dora the Explorer. “Can you see Appa?” (long pause) (camera pans back and forth before centering on Appa, “hiding” behind a bush smaller than his nose) “There he is!”
Toph can do that thing where cartoon characters pull stuff out of hammerspace. No it does not have to make sense, no it does not have to fit the world building. It can be useful but mostly it’s just for the lulz. “Gah, I’m so hungry, I’m dyyyiiing-” (loud crunching noise) (everybody looks at Toph, who is suddenly holding a bag of potato chips) “Toph, what the heck are you eating?” “I ‘unno. Taste good though.” (ensuing fight while the others try to make Toph share)
Sokka has meta knowledge. Somehow, someway, he always, always knows things that he really, really should not. Things like exactly how long they have until Azula shows up, or what’s going to go wrong after someone says some doomed phrase like “It can’t get worse.” This is extra funny because Katara and Aang are in awe of his psychic abilities, which he of course does not believe in.
Suki can freeze frame. She mostly uses this in fights, obviously. She will use it to move just an inch out of range, or to slightly adjust her opponents stance, or straight up pull some ‘ties their shoelaces together’ shit if she’s feeling petty and doesn’t respect her opponent. She doesn’t abuse the power overmuch, because she’s a proper warrior and it’s not a fair fight, but hey. This is a war. But also, she uses it to sneak up on Sokka. Unfortunately thanks to his meta knowledge it doesn’t always work.
Katara breaks the fourth wall in canon, technically, as the voice over for the intro, and I’m pretty confident saying she would keep it up and be the narrator for the show. And she does know it’s a show while she’s narrating, obviously, which leads to occasionally pointing out plot holes or similar things. She mostly takes it seriously, but every now and again she has to stop and pull some Kuzco shit. She had a LOT to say about the Jet incident.
Zuko has big “looks at camera like Jim from The Office” energy and that’s all there is to say about that.
ALSO! What happened to Hawky?? And azula I guess, but hawky is more important
you're asking the important questions, anon. let's hope that the live action series answers our most pressing questions
Also isn’t it a thing for young boys to be played by women since mostly only adults act. Many young boys are VAed by women
yeah, it is. that particular point of criticism had like, no legs
