In light of the uncovered scripts I had a very sad thought and I’m subjecting everyone to it as well.
It always felt like fanon sort of exaggerated Katara as the night owl and Zuko as a morning person based on the “you rise with the moon, I rise with the sun,” line. It’s something I’ve written into my own fics but it always felt like a bit much given that we see Sokka actually being the one who struggles to get up and get moving in the morning while Katara is (seemingly) up and at em.
Enter the uncovered scripts, where Zuko STRUGGLES to wake Katara up in the middle of a literal bombing. There’s tons of amazing memes floating around from this and I’ve seen the take of like… Katara was finally sleeping in because Zuko let her because he now got up and helped with breakfast, which I do think is one possibility.
But the sad thought I had is what if Katara was sleeping so deeply because her father was with them? She could have trained herself to be a light sleeper since Hakoda went off to help the EK, and since Sokka and Zuko rescued him, she finally felt safe enough to pass tf out again.
After all, she’s the one that’s like “the Fire Nation can’t separate our family again.”
The girl just wanted her dad to keep her safe 😢
