The Humanity in Nagasaki: Horrors, Hope and History Just as time stopped on August 09, 1945 when an atomic bomb wiped out almost a third of Nagasaki's population, time is standing still at Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum with the mementos and memories of that fateful morning that shocked the world but later shaped our civilization. In any war, warriors are born -- warriors that fight for certain beliefs beyond conscience and there are those that rise up during situations offering help beyond nations. During our visit to the Nagasaki Museum, I saw the horrors of the tragedy and realized that indeed humans can be cruel and viscous. But I was also able to see the capacity of humans to be compassionate and selfless. It further showed the capacity of mankind to endure great challenges and gain lessons from bad memories. Moving forward should not just be about forgetting the hurt and pain but most importantly of forgiving -- forgiving the pain, sometimes the perpetrators, and the person you have become. Because in forgiving, we choose to let go of resentment, to learn from the lessons, and to live with compassion. #JICE #jenesys2016 #pilipinas #batchsulon9 #sulon9 #youthexchange #pilipinasjenesysbatch9 #workingyourh #japan #nagasaki #atomicbombing @nycpilipinas (at Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum)
