ok just a small tantrum here about the end credit scene: personally? i never ever EVER got the impression that elizabeth ~stayed on land for 10 years to raise their son~, i just assumed that they parked there JUST to meet up with will, BUT the fact that debates over this are still happening a whole decade after AWE’s release just tells me how badly T&T manage the threads of their own storytelling & how little foresight they have with regards to the arcs of their characters & how (1 of 2)
(cont.) they will be perceived by audiences. it's precisely bc there is STILL so much speculation/argument over 30 whole seconds of end credit scene that makes it obvious to me that they fucked up. It’s one thing to leave loose ends that create dramatic tension and spark the imagination, but it’s another to just be so idiotically vague that people have no idea wtf you did or didn’t intend (& ruin fandom in the process, not that i’m still bitter or anything……) like, i love these movies & i love all these characters to death but T&T are honestly the WORST & are lucky johnny is such a weirdo with a quick wit and excellent imagination & decided to sign on despite the mediocrity that was CotBP’s original script. TL;DR: bad T&T, no biscuit; disney should have recruited fans (i.e. ME, i have rewritten DMC and AWE so many times in my head) to write the sequels.... this rant brought to you by: i desperately miss POTC fandom and i’ve been grumpy about this for awhile >:[
DUDE. I am so with you on most of this. Granted - I’ll always love T&T for giving us this world and I will not deny the genius in a lot of their storytelling but you’re right on the way they left the ending of AWE, which I’m sure was a pandering to the ‘Disney’ way at the time, was not okay.
