I didn’t really need much encouragement, so here we go 😉:
The second Speaker side-story I’m currently calling At The Threshold. It had a different name but it was pretty seriously spoilery so I’ve changed it (for now? maybe. we’ll see). the MC I’m currently calling The Guardian, though that is also subject to change if I find something to call them that I like better lol
instead of necessarily giving facts about each of the ROs, I decided to give a little bit of backstory 😁 nothing spoilery, but it’s a bit more than I gave about the Speaker and IH characters at first. I hope that will suffice!
The Mage - Luke Cowles - he/him - A mage raised by witches, Luke wields fire as easily as breathing. He has the capability to be one of the most powerful magic-users in the world… if he wanted to be. As it is, he’s content - and maybe a bit complacent - in the life he was born to, fourth-born child to a famous witch family.
Luke is kind and clever and more than a little mischievous. You didn’t make the best first impression, but he doesn’t appear to hold that against you… mostly. He has a remarkable ability to talk a lot while never really saying anything personal about himself, keeping you at arm’s length. Trying to get past his defenses is going to be difficult, but you’ve never been one to shy away from a challenge.
Luke is 6’7 and muscular, with pale skin, pure white hair in an undercut, and black eyes.
The Hunter - Gwyn ap Lludd / Gwyn ferch Lludd - varies, he/him or she/her - Gwyn is a myth. A captain of the Wild Hunt and child of the legendary fae king Lludd of the Silver-Hand, Gwyn is a warrior without equal and a fae lord older than written history. It’s been a long time since they’ve worked so closely with humanity. So far, they find it… endearing.
Gwyn is remarkably easy-going for a mythical hunter, and takes even the weirdest circumstances in stride. They’re a little old-fashioned and a lot out of touch with the world as it is now, but they aren’t bothered about it. But you can see a ghost of something dark and mournful and ancient hidden behind their laughter and their sharp-toothed grin.
Gwyn is 6’3 and lean with broad archer’s shoulders. They have very dark brown skin, long black locs, and their left eye is brown. Their right forearm and hand is made of fae-silver, as is their right eye, and they have the same sharply-pointed ears that all fae do.
The Dreamwalker - Asher - varies, usually she/her - Born with a unique combination of magical and supernatural heritage, Asher has the peculiar ability to walk in people’s dreams - and even affect them, to a certain extent. She promises she only uses her power for good. Mostly. Well, sometimes.
Asher is very much a mystery to you. The face they show the waking world - cold, maybe even hostile - is nothing like the playful, sultry person that visits you in your dreams. Which one is the real Asher? Or is it something in between? Either way, you know one thing for sure: she is nothing but trouble.
In the real world, Asher is 5’1 and rail thin, with curly red hair, fair and freckled skin, and gray eyes. In dreams, Asher is whoever they want to be, and takes different forms as the mood strikes. Her eyes never change, though, always the same pale gray.
The [redacted] - Silas/Silvia Varela - varies, he/him or she/her - You actually have no idea what S’s story is. They seem, by all appearances, to be a completely normal human who somehow keeps getting wrapped up in the kinds of things that would make most people run the other way. They’re a local artist of some repute and a part-time barista… who somehow knows more about what’s going on than anyone else does.
S is remarkably well-adjusted considering the situation they’ve stumbled into. They are mild-mannered almost to the point of being forgettable - or they would be, if you hadn’t noticed the shrewd intelligence in their eyes when they think no one’s looking. There’s a story there, but is it one you want to pursue? And are you ready for what you might find?
Silas/Silvia is 6’ tall and chubby, with bronze skin, hazel eyes, and dark brown hair (Silas’s hair is buzz cut, and Silvia’s is pixie cut).
