Inspite of all the bitterness between the India and Pakistan, the Wagah border closing 'lowering of the flags' ceremony, or The Beating Retreat ceremony, is a daily military practice that the security forces of India and Pakistan have jointly followed since 1959. A simple Flag-lowering exercise on the road through the joint border, the parade, which lasts for ~45 minutes, manages to be ferocious, ludicrous and of course entertaining. Large crowds gather on either side of the gate, clap and cheer for their country, as if they are cheering for a wrestling match. Though the whole ceremony is very much decorated, still being in the border of both the country is quite fascinating. You actually see people from both countries waving at each other hoping some day, all problems will be resolved.
