Thomas & Calle’s gorgeous & unique roof terrace attic apt. high above the rooftops of Stockholm.

The dark staircase against the white wall, and the graphically patterned Moroccan floor combined with the plants' green color scheme, give a clear character to the atrium. The stairs are made by a blacksmith and connect the lower terrace with the upper one. 2 terraces!

On the upper terrace, they mixed roses and geraniums with southern European plants such as citrus trees and lavender. The chairs are auction finds.

Thomas and Calle had the kitchen doors manufactured and adapted to Ikea's frames.

Breakfast is served on the lower terrace. The stairs connect the lower terrace with the upper one.

Powder pink walls against gray carpentry in the living room.

The open areas of the attic have been given a well-balanced color scheme with gray walls in the dining room and kitchen. But the living room walls are painted in the powder pink color.

The crystal carafes were bought at a flea market.

The gray-painted ceiling beams give extra character to the room. Farmer rococo chairs, dining table and gold mirror from Calle's grandmother. The medicine cabinet was bought at auction, the chandelier comes from an antique shop.

The door lining is made as a decorative frame for the bedroom doorway, and was inserted by the previous owner. Calle and Thomas think it feels like art deco and like the style mix on the floor. On the floor in the bedroom is a sisal rug.

On the hook board hang pants in colors that match the interior, as a functional and decorative installation. The bedside table is from Calle's grandmother.

Traveling in style in Louis Vuitton's dog bags makes the dogs Balthazar, chihuahua mix, and Garbo, a long-haired dachshund.

The handmade sink was purchased on a trip abroad. Walls and floors are Carrara marble.

Love how they renovated this attic apt. and incorporated the slants in the ceilings, plus kept and painted the old brick.

The apt. is on 3 levels connected by spiral stairs. The slanted beamed ceilings are on every floor, but they just seem to fit. The kitchen is cozy and a skylight in the roof lets in a lot of light.

Love the dining area- notice the chimney next to the table. They used a lot of skylights throughout the space.

Large storage unit for books, and there’s a door on the side, so they incorporated either a closet or a bath. Very clever, whichever it is.

A comfortable lounging modular sofa was chosen. I think that the highlight of the room is the yellow piano. The apt. was designed to give it a Parisian look.

Do you think it feels cramped?

I’m a bit confused- this looks like a den or studio. I don’t see a bedroom, so maybe they sleep on the modular sofa? The unit next to the piano looks like it’s at least the size of a queen bed.

Here’s an unusual 3 apt. home in Budapest with a surprisingly lovely attic apt. decorated in industrial style.

Look at how beautiful the windows look from inside. The coffee table was made from an actual old trolley.

The dining-living room is a large open space.

The work area in the dining room has an old medical cabinet painted blue.

The kitchen was kept simple with stainless steel appliances and gray cabinetry. The wooden shelves are vintage.

There’s a 2nd level with bedrooms. The master bedroom has a big old bed with 2 twin size headboards put together.

This is a child’s room. Beside the old, cast iron bed and gray lockers, the orange lamp, the cheerful yellow carpet, and the luminous neon letter bring color to the space.

This is that weird little open space in the middle of the house, that you see from the outside. From the apt., it’s a beautiful deck.

In the bathroom the black-and-white tiled floor is completed with simple, white tiles. A unique, solid oak cabinet beautifully stores everything.

In the home office, there’s a vintage tool storage chest and a retro wire chair.

Katharina turned a small, nondescript, attic apt. into a sensuous space that can be dressed down for everyday, or dressed up for entertaining. Love the pink velvet sofa.

Isn’t this a great place for a reading nook? Or anything that requires light- needlework, polishing nails, etc. How cozy!

She used this area for a dining table so she can entertain, and used lots of lovely plants.

Adore the sleep loft.

She stained the plain plywood sheets to make the bathroom look modern. I love her apt.! I would love to come home to this cozy place every night.

The attic of this 100 yr. old apt. building on the water in Amsterdam was remodeled into a stunning apt.

Aren’t the beams magnificent?

The bright white against the beams make a beautiful contrast.

There’s an upper level that is very unusual.

It must be wonderful to sit out there and watch the boats go by.

What a fabulous idea- the owners of this home in downtown Boulder, Colorado, turned the eaves of the attic into a penthouse apt. complete with an outside patio.

This is amazing. It’s light, bright, and has beautiful views.

Cheerful, sun-filled kitchen.

I grew up in an attic apt., and I can tell you it looked nothing even remotely like a high-end penthouse.

I’m always amazed at how some people can take a crummy old attic and turn it into a fabulous apt. Isn’t this crazy? You can see the eaves and old plaster walls.
