Definitely snazzy.

I THINK it's called an attifet. "An Attifet is a heart-shaped headdress with a point that dips over the forehead, worn by European women in the 16th and 17th centuries." This page explains what an attifet is and shows the various forms of it over time:

Current WIP

Hello Time Travelers! 

I’ve been busy!  I’ve tried several times to post my current work in progress but my phone has been uncooperative!  Could be operator error! 

So, here’s what’s new! 

This is a custom, OOAK Elizabethan attifet that I am designing for a client who is a professional photographer. She will be doing a creative shoot with a model and has commissioned me to make something gorgeous!

So this beautiful piece is one of my favorites. I say that a lot don’t I? This headdress (attifet) is custom drafted by Moi! (copyrights 2013 - 2016). The fabric is a blackberry silk taffeta from Renaissance Fabrics. The back row is gold Sinemay with hand made bias cut binding. I added a decorative whip stitch with gold metallic thread, and hand tacked this delicate metallic lattice trim along the edge.  The embellishment on the crown are brass findings that resemble Tudor Roses. I added glass pearls and blood red glass beads, glass leaf beads and some deep violet seed beads. This particular embellishment isn’t easily seen, but offers a pleasant surprise when the wearer moves her head to just the right angle. Sort of a little hidden garden!

I used flat filigree findings on the front billiment and bent them by hand, then added glass pearl spikes with the same blood red beads and metallic filigree balls.

Flower Attifet is DONE!!!! The desk has been cleaned off, the remnant flowers have been put in the big vase, and it is ready for next weeks photoshoot!!
