After 10 long years of being on the run, when siblings Pearl and Grian get word of an avian safe haven called Sanctuary, they know that getting there is their only chance at having a real home again. Luckily for them, the crew of the Voidsurfer — the leader of the Rebellion, two government defectors, a tournament champion, and a curious renegade — are willing to take the job.

This post contains all the necessary worldbuilding to understand the attributes au created by myself and Elle. There's a lot of original worldbuilding in it so things can get confusing fast.

First off... what are Attributes?

Attributes are categories of power that people use. In this world, everyone is born with the ability to “call for” their Attributes. Attributes are ranked on a scale of 1-10 in terms of least powerful to most powerful. While certain races [avians, terra, humans, elves, and drow] may have a predisposed ability to be stronger in certain Attributes, it is possible to train Attributes to get more powerful. 

Attributes have a physical effect when called for, with each effect being unique to the category and person using it. The physical effect can be lessened by not calling for the full power of one’s Attribute, but doing so makes the Attribute less efficient. The physical effect of Attributes is often used to identify individuals, as they are all unique. As individuals become more powerful, the physical effect of their Attribute will increase drastically. 

Next... what Attributes are there?

Strength 

Enhances the user’s strength, allowing them to perform feats they are usually incapable of. The physical effects of Strength commonly appear on the arms. Strength is associated with the colour purple. 

Logic

Sharpens the user’s mind and allows them to think more clearly, allowing for better focus and ease when discovering solutions to complex problems or thrown into intense situations. The physical effects of Logic commonly appear around the eyes. Logic is associated with the colour red.

Agility

Increases the user’s speed and dexterity, allowing for increased stamina and sleight of hand. The physical effects of Agility commonly appear on the legs. Agility is associated with the colour green. 

Flight

Allows the user to be more physically capable of flight by increasing eyesight and hearing, as well as decreasing the weight of gravity on the user. Flight makes it easier to find air currents and breathe at higher altitudes. The physical effects of Flight commonly appear on the back/wings. Flight is associated with the colour blue.

Attribute Tournaments and Government

1- Attribute Tournaments are competitions where one shows off their Attribute, usually against another person. Every few years, the Grand Tournament is held, which determines the Head of each Attribute.

The Head of an Attribute is the strongest user of their Attribute, and working directly under the Heads is the Council, made up of the best Logic users.

The Attributes Government is separate from the governments of the countries- in fact, the Attributes Government has more power over the individual ones!

New au? 👀👀

Yes! I've been rambling at @periwinklemoonlight for a bit and we decided to just. Make an au together. We call it Attributes AU!

Basic worldbuilding: Everyone has Attributes, which are basically the categories of one's power. So far, I've only thought of two Attributes, Strength and Logic. Attributes are different for everyone, but they all offer the same thing in the same category. Strength is basically super-strength, while Logic helps clear the mind and help people think, well. Logically.

The au follows Impulse, Skizz, Scar, Mumbo, Gem, Grian, and Pearl (though there are other characters, of course)!

Grian and Pearl are avians with the Attribute of Flight- an Attribute that everyone used to have, but now only the avians do. Because of this, the Council (government) is tracking them down. They pay Impulse and his crew to take them on their ship and bring them to a place that is rumored to be a safe haven for avians.

Those are the basic details of the au! Without spoilering too much, of course.
