I'm usually all pain, comfort, and gore on this Tumblr, I thought I'd take a moment and show you all my lovely little man Attu:

Attu Island Flag Conquered by Japan

A U.S. Navy PB-Y Catalina “flying boat” floats in Attu harbor in 1943 during the World War II Aleutian Islands campaign. My father flew the same aircraft during the war. This beautiful scene belies the terrible carnage American and Japanese fighting left in its wake on Attu. (Lieutenant Horace Bristol, National Archives, Flikr, public domain)
