I love how we took one of what was one of Taylor’s saddest songs and turned it into something else like
It was rare I was there I remember it all too well.
Like it was rare people fought, cried and mourned over tickets. I was there me! little old me got to be there how! I remember it all too well how could I forget the most joy filled nights of my life.
i love the way shes so into the song, breaks character to wave and then straight back into sad girl autumn vibes hahaha
plus her vocals!!!? mWAh!

i’ve seen a few people make fun of the “and you were tossing me the car keys, ‘fuck the patriarchy’ keychain on the ground” lyric, but i actually think its a really interesting and deep lyric, and it comments a lot on the persona of taylor’s partner in this song. he puts up this pretence as the feminist guy who respects women, but we learn from the rest of all too well, and other songs on the album, that he has manipulative and disrespectful tendencies towards women: he dehumanises taylor into some trophy to reflect better onto him (all too well, ten minute version), ignores her needs and emotions and makes her feel ‘needy’ (all too well, ten minute version), the likelihood is that he also cheated on her (babe), and he lied to her as well (the moment i knew, all too well, ten minute version), not to mention the whole thing with younger women (“i’ll get older but your lovers stay my age”, all too well, ten minute version). the keychain being on the ground is pretty significant too — he dropped his façade and revealed who he truly was to taylor, and it led to the destruction of their relationship. idk i think its a pretty loaded lyric, actually.
Me trying to figure out if this is technically her birthday gift or if this was just another aspect of her campaign for the song/short film.
I'm so glad that rather than asking a young actress to dye her hair or wear a wig for the role, taylor was the one who changed to fit the role. a small thing, but says so much honestly
One of the most heartbreaking lines in All Too Well (10 Minute Version) in my opinion is ‘soldier returning half her weight’
I find this so heartbreaking because it depicts the physical impact the breakup had on Taylor. It wasn’t just psychological and emotional damage, but the situation had an impact on her health.
Also, describing herself as a ‘soldier’ implies that she went through a battle. It’s hard to know whether the battle was getting through the breakup, or the relationship as a whole, but there is definitely a message being conveyed here.
I do think that this line is a little overlooked, but I think it’s an incredible piece of writing by our Queen, Taylor Swift.
(also fuck you jake gyllenhaal)
Cuz there we are again, in the middle of the night, dancing round the kitchen in the refrigerator light
