When Asriel first came back, he expected to feel the same as he did before his death and while he had all of the souls.
However, he quickly realized that he was still very numb and questioned if coming back was even a good idea after all.
If he still couldn't feel love for his family, then would he just go back to acting like Flowey?
But he didn't have it in him to break his parents' hearts again, and just let them have their happy moment.
