Please everyone, don't be too harsh on Moon about the situation with Lunar because, I'm assuming, this is out of his control where the helper fairies live, that they have to spend most of the time in some kind of pocket dimensions. Moon didn't designed the rules like that. It was probably some higher being, some kind of ruler of this world.

Does Lunar always have to come back to the bubble sooner or later even if he can stay out of it for some time? Maybe he doesn't have to go back to the bubble. Maybe he can live forever with Sun and Moon. That would definitely be better for his mental health.

Lunar is not always required to return, but it is where he goes once his assigned fairy (Moon, in this case) deems his task is complete. One word is all it takes to send him away.

If Moon wills it, Lunar can stay out for as long as he likes...but not forever. Despite having unique powers, he and Moon have their own equally unique link that connects them. Lunar being out for long periods of time does eventually drain some of each other's energy. The bubble is an equivalent to a recharge station for Lunar, and in turn for Moon.
