(Just in case some of you were confused about who’s who in this blog’s AU!)
Wait why is my Micheal even transmasc?
Ionno it was fun to rally around a headcanon that a lot of the fandom had. Thinking about Leakyheart and charluiu 's Micheal. It also gives him more than 2 dimensions bc let's be real, while we can pick apart his actions and monologue, he has nowhere near as much depth as the rest of his family. But when it comes to writing trans Micheal into a story it gets kinda difficult because you either make most of his character surround his struggle transitioning or you ignore the fact that he lives in a small town in Utah in the 1980s. It might be dicey, but I'd like to make it work because of how it ties in to looking like his father. Cis Micheal just looks like William on accident, it's not something he could really control. But, trans Micheal is actively taking steps to look and be more masculine, and it's visualizing in the form of his father. Peak. So much to work with there. How does he balance the desire to be a man with looking like the most evil man in your life? Trans Micheal kinda clears canon Micheal with that character arc.
Really struggling making Micheal transmasc growing up in the 70s-80s while living in a small town in Utah and socially transitioning at a young age. And ya he can transition when he's older but I really don't want to portray him as a girl for the entirety of the 80s arc. Hmmmm maybe he starts DIYing at 15-16 and is just super tomboyish at school?? His friends call him Micheal but he just has to take it on the chin from everyone else. Family wise, Isabel (my Mrs Afton) does NOT approve because that was her first little girl, but William is kinda being an accidental ally because he's like "oh my god just do whatever you need to so this family looks NORMAL I'll call you Micheal WHATEVER just please don't cause me trouble. " Or maybe he takes him to a bunch of psychiatrists and nothings working except treating him like a boy so Will just says fuck it whatever just act like how an oldest son should. Since Micheal has to be 'man of the house' when William's gone, it causes his resentment towards his younger siblings that he has to take care of. As long as he doesn't make the family, or William, look bad it doesn't matter. Once Isabel leaves and Cassidy (my BV but I'd argue canon BV) gets bit, the whole "perfect family" falls apart anyway so Will just doesn't care anymore. Henry is a bit confused and only calls him Micheal to his face but yknow he'll give him a firm handshake and a pat on the shoulder. Oh my god and then as he gets older he starts looking more like William and he HATES it, the one thing making him feel the most like himself is drawing him closer to his father. Kinda fucked up and evil I love it. Trans Micheal also kinda ties in to this theme of gender and death I didn't mean to create but I'm leaning into where both Jeremiah (my mangle) and Gabriel (freddy) are transfem and transmasc respectively and they're just free to present however they want because their dead. Meanwhile Micheal is stuck in his mortal flesh struggling hard with his identity. And once he gets scooped and starts decaying he looks the most 'man' he ever has because all of his features are decaying off his body. Diversity win! Transgender corpse!
Au tidbits:
My Micheal is transmasc, and while William isn't transphobic, Micheal doesn't really talk to him about it (shocker). So when William is making Funtime foxy he just kinda throws everything at the wall and that's my in-universe explanation as to why Funtime foxy is Like That
My William is a lot of things, but he respects his kid's gender and not much else!
b-sides au breakdown is a boat. yes. smth cooler to add onto this; his rudder is positioned to be a tail. and it wags.

[Can we all just... For a moment imagine... All of our muses as children in elementary school...?
Giovanni would be a big-time bully who goes around, intimidates the weaker kids, and steals their lunch money. He would want to be king of the playground and have his big group of bullies to help him control the slide, or whatever. He would probably be one of those pretty popular kids who is a jerk and doesn't let other kids play with his stuff or on his territory.]
