ikea shark gothic

inspired by the ikea cryptid @sharkloaf

sometimes the shark bin rustles. there's always been someone keeping an eye on it. you've seen it emptied and refilled before.

one day you see someone in a shark onesie. you follow them to a turn you know is a dead end. they've disappeared.

you decide to buy a shark. they're charming and soft. that night you take it home to cuddle as you sleep. in the morning there's a second one. you live alone and keep the doors and windows locked at night.

the sharks seem to cuddle back when you hold them.

you're on security duty for closing time that evening. you turn away from the security cam screen for a moment to grab a pen that fell on the floor. when you sit back up there's a shark laying on the desk. the door always makes noise when its opened and you've kept it closed the whole time.

you pass by the shark bin. it seems to almost call you. you fall over into the bin, sighing contentedly, feeling safe and warm. the shark pile sighs back softly.

and on the subject of nonsense im tired of the whole “turning 18 doesn’t make you suddenly more mature” and saying 18 year olds are no different than a 17 year old bc i could also say the same about 16/17 and following that logic it would mean a 16,17, and 18 year old are all the same when they’re not and people are just ignoring the two years worth of development between those 3 birthdays. like yeah when i turned 18 i wasn’t suddenly more mature than the day before but looking back a year prior to when i had just turned 17 a lot had changed and i think people are ignoring the actual year’s worth of development so they can argue how it’s ok to take away agency from adults because they didn’t change in a day. like, face it. 18 year olds are adults capable of making their own decisions. start learning to look at the bigger picture
