this year's inktober pieces, following slightly different rules than usual
For this year's Inktober I decided to only aim for 15 prompts instead of 31 drawings. So I put together a couple of prompts I liked and then picked one (or more) every couple of days - sometimes on their own, sometimes combining them.
Here are the prompts I ended up using:
Harpy (#Auctobre)
Racoon (#Auctobre)
Pitcher plant (#Auctobre)
Vine (#Drawtober2020)
Sleepy (#Drawtober2020) feat. my OC Leonore
Nightshade (#Auctobre)
Sun (#Drawtober2020) feat. my OC Catinca
Doll (#Auctobre) feat. my OC Gretchen's doll
Devour (#Auctobre)
Sea (#Drawtober2020)
Qilin (#Auctobre)
Twilight (#Drawtober2020)
Lantern (#Auctobre)
Poppy (#Drawtober2020)
Owl (wildcard option)
I'll probably post a compilation tomorrow :3
Yesterday I posted my painting of a young witch, deadly nightshade and an image of a flying person trying to portray astral projection. Today I’m showing the first painting I made for the #auctobre nightshade prompt where the figure in the sky didn’t work out at all so I cut her out. I kinda like this witch and the nightshade blooms better in this one. Swatch to see the painting from yesterday plus I made a very slight correction. (Did someone say “a painting is never finished”? Or something to that effect…. #watercolor #deadlynightshade #holbeingoldwatercolor #watercolorportrait #paintingtheskykingdom #etsy https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj8gZyXumL0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
This I made for @audraauclair ‘s October challenge - #auctobre #auctobre2022. Day 19 - #nightshade , also known as #deadlynightshade or #atropabelladonna. This is a fascinating medicinal plant to read about since it has figured in history since Greek times and certain components are still used today as a pharmaceutical. The fun history is related to it’s use in witchcraft as a flying ointment as it induced the sensation of flying or astral projection. The atropine component dilates pupils. The berries are said to taste sweet but eating them can result in death. ( I fiddled with the faces too much and the clouds did not work out as I had imagined but it was a lot of fun trying to create this. If you don’t know of @audraauclair art you will want to check her out she makes some of my favorite highly imaginative but gorgeous art using gouache most of the time I believe. #watercolorpaint #artchallenge. #inktober #inktober2022. #paintingtheskykingdom #medicinalplants. #witches #astralprojection https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj667rduh1c/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
