The cure is closer to home
Elena had lost the cure. The one thing she wanted to obtain after Jeremy's death and causing all that trouble with killing Kol to protect Jeremy. It seemed like such a waste to not get her hands on it. And though she thought she was okay with being a vampire, the more she thought about it the more she realized she wanted exactly the same thing Rebekah wanted. A chance to decide if she wanted children. A chance to grow up. Her mission in Pennsylvania to find it was a bust. All she got out of it was a pretend make out session with Elijah Mikaelson, some comforting words from him and Katherine Pierce snapping her neck. She wanted the cure for a different reason then, considering her humanity was off. Now it was back on, and Jeremy had returned but she wasn't aware of that until recently and she still felt she deserved to make it up to him and find that cure. After all he died his eighth time trying to get that damn thing. But no it was gone. Lost. Her chance to make it up to Jeremy, and to become human again.
She had no idea who had the cure, and or what would come of it. Then one day she ran into the evil true immortal himself. He appeared as his true face, and it threw her off. She would've never known it wasn't Stefan until he slipped up. She asked for him to show his real face, and he refused to. Playing it off like he was no one's doppelganger. So she made him a deal if he could tell her another way to be cured, she'd drop the true face reveal mission. It wasn't exactly what he wanted, but he figured if she was after another cure, it meant she given up on finding HIS cure. "Tatia Petrova, your ancestor isn't dead after all. She's here again, and a witch. She's the cure that no one knows about." he told her in a tone that she'd only hear.
Elena blinked. "Tatia Petrova. As in the originator of the doppelganger line? Is alive again, and she's a cure for vampirism?" Silas had smiled. "Yes. Her blood will turn you human again, but don't tell anyone." he told her. Before Elena could say more Silas was gone. There's hope after all to get me human? I can be human again if I find my family. So all I have to do is find Tatia Petrova. That was easier said than done. How do you find an ancestor you thought was dead. She went back to the boarding house for a moment to try and figure out where she should look first. She ran into Damon. "You look like you're on a mission." Elena shook her head. "No I'm not. I'm just going out with my friends." Damon didn't seem to be buying it. "No you've got the I'm on the mission and I am not going to tell a Salvatore look on your face." Elena glared slightly. "Fine I am going to find Katherine she must be here somewhere. Then I am gonna tell her to give me that damn cure." Her lie was perfectly believable. Damon accepted it. "Good luck with that one." he said. Then he let her to it.
Elena was out the door before Stefan could come and ask her questions too. She wondered if Katherine knew Tatia was alive, and thought of asking her but then she'd have to explain why she wanted her. No go there. Silas said I couldn't tell anyone. shit. Elena walked around town, it was small and no need to always drive. Things were close together. Then all of a sudden Elena turned around and saw her likeness. "Katherine...?" she questioned hoping that if it wasn't Katherine, they'd reveal themselves as Tatia.
