In fact, we have over 300 audio recordings in a number of formats including wax cylinder, record, reel-to-reel tape, 8-track, and audio cassette.  The problem is, we don’t have the necessary equipment to actually listen to half of it, let alone share it with the world. if anyone else is out there searching for alternative ways to get cassettes to their pc, here’s how i’ve done it

a cassette player but the only output it has is a headphone jack, 3.5 mm jack. connect this to

an rca to 3.5 mm cord, mine may be from our old camcorder. you can get them online. connect this to

the diamond one touch video capture thing. it has rca jacks connected to its own little remote and that goes to a usb slot

tada, cassette to pc without a cassette player with rca output. 

warning - i don’t know anything about audio conversion or music quality or anything like that so this may be the worst way possible lol i’m not looking for super high quality though tbh i’m just doing some silly family recordings and a couple radio interviews so it just needs to sound mostly okay

of course if you don’t have a one touch or something like it, an el gato or whatever, this won’t help you. you may as well buy a proper cassette player i suppose but this works for me so maybe it’d help someone else..
