Do aliens have any similar reactions to humans for things like nails on a chalk board or Styrofoam? Cause if not i imagine there would be a lot of confusion if Virgil ever heard a noise similar and just suddenly started acting like he was in pain or something
many aliens have their own sensory issues, but i will admit: it would be hilarious to see an intersection/overlap of the two, where the human thinks every noise this alien makes while moving is agonizing to witness and the alien believes human classical music to be psychological warfare but they both can’t stand the texture of felt, or something along those lines.
i imagine humanity’s proclivity to being affected by non-physical/psychological sensory stuff might be a rarer trait, and therefore somewhat confusing. some humans wince at high pitched squeals, sure, but others will wince at the idea of fingernails on a chalkboard or shudder while remembering unpleasant textures or sights (trypophobia, anyone?), able to summon the physical feeling of what they're cringing from through memory alone.
nobody really expects a deathworlder species to have such a sensitive sensory register, particularly not ones who are also known for their physical resiliency & bulldozing through their own pain!
