For context: I made my husband watch the newest Defunctland video on audio-animatronics. He’s never been a big Disney nerd, but I got him hooked on Defunctland with Fastpass. He’s got a Masters in Audio Engineering, and when I say that he lost his mind hearing about how the audio was used to program the figures, it is an understatement. He had to rewind and then explain it to me in great depth. He’s anxiously awaiting part 2 now.

My Year of the Book - Day 106: As a follow up to yesterday’s New York World’s Fair guidebooks, here are a couple more related goodies from the mid-century version of the fair: a perfect bound double issue (issues 6&7) of the amazing “Persistence of Vision” magazine, and the 5-CD set (with a 24-page booklet) of all audio tracks from each Disney designed attraction at the fair from Walt Disney Records. I don’t need to tell true Disney fans about the PoV magazine, a real labor of love from writer and editor Paul Anderson while it existed. I don’t have a full run, but have enough to make me wish I did. The CDs of the individual show soundtracks and narrations are also priceless, and there’s even a bonus disc with an alternate “work-in-progress” version of the Progressland exhibit and The Carousel of Progress. Great stuff.
