[BEGIN LOG]
“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, I record this account to preserve the truth of what I encountered in on planet ████. This is Father Richard Sanchez. This is only the second audio log recorded of my research. Again, I will recount that these are in relation to the Supernatural or Morbidly Curious.” [He took a deep breath, white noise reigned on the audio before he began to speak.]
“The day began like any other, typical day of investigation. But as dusk approached, I felt a strange compulsion to walk the wooded path that winds, hearing strange sounds. The air was thick with an oppressive stillness that seemed to wish to choke the very breath from my lungs.”
“I pressed onward, my footsteps crunching on the dry leaves, the only sound in an otherwise unnaturally silent forest. As I rounded a bend, I noticed something strange: the trees, usually so uniform and predictable, had taken on an unsettling appearance. Their trunks twisted and gnarled, the bark peeling away like decaying flesh, revealing grotesque, almost human-like features beneath.”
“At first, I dismissed it as a trick of the fading light. But as I drew closer, the eerie semblance to human forms became undeniable. The trees seemed to loom over whoever dared to pass under them, their branches outstretched like skeletal arms, fingers clawing at the air. Faces – or what could be mistaken for faces – appeared in the knotted wood, their hollow eyes and gaping mouths frozen in silent screams.”
“Suddenly, a rustling sound broke the silence, and I whipped around, my breath catching in my throat. A figure emerged from the shadows, its outline barely discernible against the darkening sky. It was tall, with limbs that seemed too long, too thin. As it moved closer, I realized that it was not a figure at all, but another tree – one that had somehow uprooted itself and was shambling with a dreadful purpose. I remained ever still as I watched it shuffle passed me as I kept my silence, my eyes fascinated as it loomed over a struggling natural wildlife of ████, it’s legs caught in the tangled mess of shrubbery. I stared as the figure lifted one of it’s spindly limps only to drive it downward, impaling the creature as it yelped in pain, its roots beginning to wrap around it’s pray, curling into the creature’s mouth and down it’s throat. I would have gotten a closer sample of the thing… if it hadn’t noticed me. It wouldn’t have been wise to stay without proper equipment.”
“Now, as I sit in the safety of my study, recounting this experience. All I know is that something dwells within that forest, and it has taken notice of me.”
