an au where zenyatta did not experience the "spiritual awakening" the Shambali referred to, thus found himself at a crossroads with what to do now that - in terms of his pre-programmed script - his purpose had been fulfilled.

AU - Restless hearts                  In a world where peace was a world away.

             - Instead of achieving his infamous inner tranquility at the monastery he ended up frustrated at his inability to understand the monks reasoning for wanting to achieve unity between humans and omnics, they were very clearly the underdogs in this. Though he still greatly believes he has a heart and soul like humans he is bitter and jaded that he isn’t seen as an equal.

          - He’s more prone to aggression when he is spoken against or treated unfairly, often traveling between countries to try and participate in whatever omnic rebellion is left. He isn’t hoping to start another world war but he’s certainly not going to sit back while omnic kind is treated unfairly.

         - He dresses in multiple layers to try and blend in with a crowd and seem human to anyone who doesn’t look twice. Deep down under all the anger and loathing he is still a kindhearted bot and and in more then one occasion has protected and helped humans who get caught in the crossfire of his roving group’s rebellions. 

         - Definitely hates Overwatch, number one enemy of omnics, the group to oppress their fight for equality. If offered enough by Talon, would absolutely take that in order to aid in the destruction of Overwatch. No Overwatch equals less resistance against omnic equality.

         - Distrustful of anyone who shows him too much kindness at first, fearful that it’s a trap to try and reel him to hurt him. However he is the first to extend a hand to help anyone who is less fortunate. He may be an restless heart but he still has a heart.
