He Wished

He wished he could be different. He wanted to be someone else. His brother, perhaps. Or maybe his father. His sister’s boyfriend- anyone but who he was.

When his heroes fell, when the people he aspired to be fell to their demons, he was lost. He knew he was better than drugs, better than abuse.

He ran away. He left and never came back. He became someone better than he could’ve following someone else.
