Mirabel Gift Headcanon
Mirabel being the next candle holder is pathetic, having a 5 year old being publicly humiliated and traumatized just so she can what - be the next person to hold the candle, doesn’t the magic comes from the candle itself why does it need a holder🤬 Anyway Mirabel’s gift in my head has always been Illusions for 2 major reasons
She very light and bubbly for a 15 year old that is basically emotional neglected by her family but is projecting that everything they didn’t do or include her in was “fine”
Her & Camilo are true gremlin twins cousins and the few times they did interact with each other proves that - so of course they would have gifts that play off of each other
Now my Mirage Mirabel goes like this........
Mirabel has the ability of hallucinations/Illusions that show her subconscious emotional feeling about her family exclusion of her from basically everything and using her as the reason why something went wrong |The gift of Illusions allows Mirabel to manifest a physical and/or mental perceptions that comes from her own emotional intelligence, the more she believes (emotional) the more real it seem but the better understanding (intelligence) she has the more creative she can be with it. She though the her family didn’t see her as a equal so she subconsciously create all most a simulation of the amazing madrigals in which “ her family is amazing & since I'm in my family I'm also amazing” that for a time kept the Illusion up but when seeing the house cracks the simulation started to end leading to Mirabel & Alma yelling in the courtyard about “who is hurting the family”.
Mirabel’s Illusion are based on her empathy towards herself like how Pepa emotional states controls the weather.
Hags around children because most teenagers 15+, don’t have Mirabel's constant positively imaginations and so probable are interning around for jobs - either dislikes or tolerance Mirabel constant lighthearted nature
Family Madrigals enjoys Mirabel’s Antics to varying degrees, as it is a great way for them to wine down + Mirabel enjoys the affection
Her family does actually very much cares for her but since she feels like her lack of gift makes it hard for her to in term fit in - so she spends her time with the village children (that are roughly around 5) other other teenagers her age - hence why she would have a very active imagination for a 15 and why the villagers immediately agree with Alma that she was “seeing things” or drank to much”
Some hints that the house was breaking were so obvious, that the fact that only Mirabel saw it was maybe part of the cover up of her hallucinating. It wasn’t until “ Waiting for a Miracle” we’re she saw the house was broken and as she discovered more realizing that the house was ACTIVE BREAKING and thought she was the reason because she was the only one beside Bruno that the house was even in danger
When Mirabel's daydreams she can see her room and fills it of her hearts wants and needs
She actually does have a door/room but her own nervousness about getting her gift made the door “disappear” becomes even at 5, Mirabel didn’t want to disappoint but the amount of people made her want to disappear so her door evoked her emotion and “disappear” - because she wanted to make her family proud she wanted nothing to go wrong and in her panic cause her own door to disappear
