August 10th, 1957. Marilyn devastatingly suffers an ectopic pregnancy. Marilyn puts on a brave smile for her fans, prioritising the happiness of her fans over her own as Arthur Miller guides her out of the Doctors Hospital in Manhattan. She spent 10 days in the hospital after having emergency life saving surgery. When questioned by the press and fans on how she was she responded “ I’m feeling wonderful. I definitely still plan to have a large family. I’m going to rest, rest, and more rest.” You can really see the pain in her eyes in these pics😰. It breaks my heart because she would have been the most amazing mother and she really wanted to have this baby💔
“To understand Marilyn best, you have to see her around children. They lover her; her whole approach to life has their kind of simplicity and directness.” - Arthur Miller on Marilyn Monroe
